Haw Par Villa
In days gone by this property was called Tiger Balm Gardens,
a collection of grotesque statues that illustrated various Chinese
mythological themes, as well as notorious crimes and vices from
Singapore's history. But in 1990 the gardens were transformed into
Haw Par Villa Dragon World, billed as the world's first hightech
Chinese mythological theme park. That's about the best way to describe
it, because there is nothing else quite like Haw Par Villa anywhere
else on the planet. There
are nine attractions to keep you entertained, from exciting Water
God's flume ride and a slow boat through a dragon to Chinese
legend in 3-D on the creation of the world. Legendary heroes and
spirits are brought to life in specially constructed theatres, and
interacts with audience to ensure that there is never a dull moment.
To complete your visit, see live performances of songs, dances and
martial arts in the large South China Sea Amphitheatre and
a Chinese puppet show. It's 2,000 seat open-air South China Sea
amphitheatre conducts daily live performances, while the second
amphitheatre, the Four Seasons, dominates the highest point
in the gardens and stage dramatic shows. The 500 seat Spirits of
the Orient theatre features a multi-media presentation of "Creation
of the World". No theme park is complete without rides.
