Places of Interest - Singapore River

Singapore River (Boat Quay & Clark Quay)

Boat Quay District
More than 35 bars and restaurants have opened in Boat Quay featuring alfresco dining along the riverbank. This is a favourite spot for both locals and visitors seeking good food and a cool breeze. The waterfront shophouses are also home to blues bar, karaoke lounges and pubs. Their wooden shutters and floorboards and lazy ceiling fans provide a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Here you will find watering-holes offering a wide variety of music and live entertainment from jazz to Tamil rock.

Clarke Quay District
Just up-river stands Clarke Quay, a paradise for shopping, dining and entertainment. These 60 godowns and shophouses have been converted into 200 shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment outlets. They are housed in five main blocks of restored godowns and shophouses - Merchants' Court, The Foundry, The Cannery, Shophouse Row and Traders' Market. This area has a festive atmosphere and street ambience that is unique - the Clarke Quay Satay Club, Hawker's Alley street dining and activities, 40 push-carts selling knick-knacks and a Disney-style Adventure Ride. Dining alfresco is popular by the waterfront and along the streets. Lining the quayside are full service restaurants, food pavilions and pushcarts offering a wide variety of cuisine.
